Kingston upon Thames

Kingston upon Thames is a vibrant market town and a London Borough. Situated on the banks of the River Thames it provides a great location to stop for those visiting Hampton Court or Kew Gardens.

You could be forgiven for thinking that you were miles from London. In fact, you are only 12 miles south west of the centre of London.

Kingston upon Thames appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as Chingestone and Chingetun(e). It was held by William the Conqueror.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink, high street chains and some large retail outlets here which make it a shoppers paradise. It has 3 miles of attractive riverside and some toppled telephone boxes!
If you fancy watching a film Kingston upon Thames has the largest Odeon in the UK with 14 screens.
