Crowland

Crowland is only a small place between Peterborough and Spalding but it packs a punch for having two famous historical sites. The first is the large and impressive structure of Crowland Abbey which dates back to medieval times and the second is the 14th century Trinity Bridge which used to be situated over a river. The bridge is often referred to locally as the Witches Bridge.

Crowland has a main high street with a variety of small independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

Stamford

Stamford by the River Welland is a market town in Lincolnshire. With its medieval buildings, which include five parish churches, and its narrow streets it is a town popular with tourists.

There has been a settlement here since Roman times and many great battles were fought in this area. In 972 the Anglo Saxons and the Danes faced each other across the river. Until the 19th century the town was host to an annual bull running festival.

Stamford has a range of good independent shops and some very good restaurants and cafes. Friday is market day when the town is truly bustling and vibrant as people flock to the town to do their shopping.
