Macclesfield

Macclesfield in Cheshire is a fairly affluent Market Town with a good selection of branded and independent shops. There are also good facilities in the way of cafes and restaurants and a busy shopping centre and indoor market.

Macclesfield is recorded in the Domesday Book as Maclesfeld. It is famous for its textile industry notably silk. In 1872 there were 71 silk mills operating out of the town. This is the home of Hovis bread.
